Innovation at Sea
Paolo Topic
In 2019, M/V Paolo Topic became the first hybrid solar bulk carrier in the world. Topic mandated Solbian EA to install solar panels and Wärtsilä to deliver the hybrid and control system. The upgrade was carried out at Onomichi Shipyard, Japan.
The goal was not a headline. It was a better-performing, more sustainable vessel, and the beginning of a wider commitment to innovation in the fleet.
