Ivo Mašković
“I’m Topić’s soldier. My word meant something at the company. They had faith in me.”
9,753 days at sea. Boarded the Jela Topić in Rotterdam, 1982. Promoted to Master in 1995. Retired in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 crisis.
In a 1995 storm off Taiwan, his Third Mate, Pero Broketa, now General Manager of Topić Services, told him: “Master, look at the stars above.” It meant they were in the eye of the cyclone. They survived it together.
